This summer our students (ages 10+) will team up to build bug machines. Our bug machine studio will exercise all of the learning tools, such as CAD and electronics, and next-gen skills that we teach. Students will be coached through a creative design process by two Ph.D. instructors and a team of student interns from Santa Fe College. We will be utilizing the studio classrooms and machine shop of Santa Fe Physics to research, design, build, and ultimately showcase our work to the community. Our Vorpal the hexapod robot is a valuable learning tool and it is a great example of “biomimetics” or bug-inspired machines.
